.....Public bodies have to disclose their fees while lawyers do not. Lawyers in England call Ireland the “Least transparent jurisdiction in Europe,” and Transparency International stated that we have one of the most secretive police forces as well. Not too many people living here can argue with that.

The Competition Authority stated: “The structure of self regulation that governs the supply of legal service has few, if any, of the safeguards needed to protect customers from the inherent conflict of interest that arises from self regulation. As a result, the regulatory system has failed to promote competition in the interests of customers.”
